Every place tells a story.
Ours speaks of memory, transformation, and continuity.
Riccardo Rami Studio is based in Prato, within the former Pugi carpet factory,
enclosed by the medieval walls of the city.
An industrial place that, over time, has changed its function without losing its identity.
The redevelopment of the space began in 1994, with full respect for the original structure.
The environments have remained open and fluid, connected by a few essential interventions designed to accompany natural light and the movement of people.
In 2004, a second phase of work completed the evolution of the studio.
Glass surfaces, transparent mezzanines, and carefully calibrated openings allow light to flow between levels, creating a continuous relationship among spaces.
Simple and natural materials — iron, wood, glass, and stone — define a sober and authentic balance.
The color palette recalls the Tuscan landscape: warmer tones in the first part of the studio, more neutral ones in the second.
Water, an original element of the site, re-emerges through a slate waterfall fed by an ancient well from the former factory, contributing to the natural balance of the environment.
Plants, present throughout the space, play a fundamental role in maintaining an energetic and vital harmony.
The studio is conceived as a single organism, where form, matter, light, and function dialogue with one another.
A space that reflects our idea of conscious change: evolving without erasing, transforming without losing memory.
A space designed to evolve in harmony
and to bring harmony to those who inhabit it.
