T MODA. The Italian Cultural Experience for the Chinese Market. Conceived as an unrealized yet visionary project, it was imagined as the expanded evolution of OPIFICIOjm. The idea was to enter the Chinese urban landscape as a unique experiential system, blending architecture, retail, culture, craftsmanship, food, hospitality and storytelling.

Concept Design / Retail Experience / Cultural Translation

The project reinterpreted Tuscan architectural heritage through a contemporary lens, guided by the poetic, organic and humanistic spirit of Giovanni Michelucci. Courtyards, gardens, farmhouses and piazzas were reimagined in a balance between memory and modernity, creating an immersive experience. Each material was conceived as narrative: stone became rhythm, wood became memory, light became intimacy. Visitors would walk through cloisters and pergolas, discovering fragments of Tuscany recomposed into a living organism. The design merged tradition with innovation, layering cultural references with contemporary functions. Retail, hospitality, food and craftsmanship coexisted in one architectural breath, transforming the site into a spatial autobiography of Italian identity, a living archive of Tuscan culture.

Before construction, several elements had already been developed: site selection, preliminary surveys, assessment of specialized Italian craftsmen, botanical planning with olive trees and maritime pines, sketches for the Villa and Cascinale, and concepts for semi‑productive areas.

The project halted with China’s political shift.
T‑MODA remains a visionary anticipation.
