Tonio
Tonio was a historic place in Prato, a point of reference for generations of textile and fashion entrepreneurs, for international travelers, and for artists and actors who, after performing at Teatro Metastasio, gathered here to celebrate the end of the show and the beginning of storytelling, leaving behind a living memory.

The images, presences and traces left over time were selected and brought back into the space as fragments of living memory, in the main hall and underground room, as a silent passage through past stories. In its final years Tonio underwent a last transformation: not reinvented, but rediscovered by calling upon the energy deposited in its walls by industrialists, textile and fashion professionals, artists and actors. This memory became the heart of regeneration, allowing Tonio to shine once more with new light. From 1950 to 2023 it was a fixed point in city life, a place of relationships, authentic cuisine and shared gestures. The intervention arrived as an act of respect, enabling Tonio to cross its final time with dignity.
Light becomes a design material, mirrors act as perceptual instruments, colors form a studied code. The entrance expands, surfaces dialogue, steel and decorated glass create reflections. Perception changes without betraying the original soul. Everything resonates.
